Welcome to Alchemy Wines, a small yet mighty wine brand, nestled in the heart of Hawke’s Bay, Te Matau a Māui. With a deep-rooted passion for wine and food and a wealth of experience in the industry, we are thrilled to introduce you to the magic of Alchemy.

Our journey in the wine world has led us from the prestigious vineyards of Bordeaux to the lush rolling landscapes of Oregon. However, it is here in sunny Hawke’s Bay where we have chosen to establish our home base. Our mutual affection for this region and its exceptional terroir has motivated us to produce outstanding wines that genuinely embody its distinct character.

Founded in 2010, Alchemy’s historic home was in the Dartmoor Valley, a beautiful vineyard owned and cared for by Neal Cave.  The vineyard was sadly lost in 2023 during Cyclone Gabrielle.  Subsequently in 2024 we purchased Alchemy from Neal, so that we could continue the legacy.  Having already been making the Alchemy Wines for a several years, we took that history and moved forward to find new parcels of exceptional grapes, and collaborate with growers to create wines that authentically reflect their origin, but still upholding the principles that have distinguished the Alchemy wines over the last 15 years.
